Hello dear people
It is a long time I havent written anything. I am living now for 6 months in dubai.
I am talking with the arab people here about emirates city and they all think I am very dumb that I have bought a appartment in emirates city because they are saying that there wont be any electricity there because the electricity doesnt have to anything the sheikh of ajman but with the boss of all the uae.
I have talked with the boss of the construction of emirates city and they stopped the construction of
goldcrest dreams and goldcrest dreams 2, 3 months ago because they dont have a license to build from their boss to go on with the construction.
They stopped the building of many towers and they returned the money for the buyers because the
price of the material to build has raised 4 months ago.
And they are saying that maybe after 6 years they will get electricity and water.
I am hearing this story every day from arabs.
Tommorow I am going to emirates city and I am going to see how it looks like and why they stopped the construction 3 months ago.
Some people are saying they will build till the 10th floor and then they will stop building. And they will do this for any building. It is more expensive to build the buildings than what the people have paid. Because the cement and the iron has all gone more expensive.
Now the prices of the appartments are more expensive than 3 months ago and this is all because of the higher cement price.
I am sitting here in the uae and I hear these stories every day and my head has become like a tennis ball now.
Tommorow I will look and then you will hear something from me.
If you know anything about the electricity then you can also answer me.
Call me
Let me have ur number, lets talk over the phone.
dear sir i am also investor

Intresting Report
The Gulf Co-operation Council Interconnection Authority will start trial operations by year-end of its $1.2bn electricity grid that will connect Arab Gulf states and help meet the region’s rising energy needs, an official said yesterday.
Phase one of the GCC interconnection grid, which will ultimately link the power networks of all six GCC states, will be fully operational in the first quarter of 2009 once all tests have been completed, Ahmed Ali Ebrahim, Gulf Co-operation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) director for system operation and maintenance, told Zawya Dow Jones.
“By the end of the year we will start the trial operations, which will continue until January 2009. We’re hoping that by the first quarter of 2009 we will start normal operations,” Ebrahim said in an interview.
The first phase of the project will see the interconnection of four GCC states - Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia - with Oman and the United Arab Emirates to be connected by the end of 2010 in two subsequent phases.
The system is aimed at helping Gulf states meet runaway electricity demand, which is soaring on the back of an economic boom that has seen billions of petrodollars flow into infrastructure, tourism and real estate projects across the region.
Industry estimates put the amount of investment needed for the GCC power and water sectors at as much as $120bn over the next 10 years.
The grid will allow the transfer of electricity between GCC states to utilize excess capacity and limit the need for new investments in additional power generation capacity, Ebrahim said.
The network will boost efficiency and reliability by ensuring uninterrupted electricity supplies, he added.
The project’s second phase, the connection of the UAE and Oman, has already been completed, with phase three, covering the construction of an electrical substation and an overhead line in Abu Dhabi emirate, under implementation, Ebrahim said.
As part of phase three, the GCCIA has awarded National Contracting Company (NCC), of Saudi Arabia, an estimated $70mn contract to build the overhead line from Sila in western Abu Dhabi to the capital, he said.
A contract for the construction of a substation at Sila is under tender and expected to be awarded within a month, Ebrahim added. Both contracts are set to be completed in the second half of 2010, providing the grid’s final link.
Once up and running, the grid is set to pave the way for the development of a regional energy market, which in turn could lead to lower electricity prices, Ebrahim said.
“Once you have an energy market and it will be an efficient energy market, we can see prices go down,” he said, adding that this should help reduce government subsidies for the regional power sectors.
The GCCIA is also in the final stages of awarding a contract for the utilization of the grid’s fiber optic cables for telecommunications purposes, Ebrahim said.
Under the plan, the authority would lease cable capacity to telco providers to generate additional revenues.
“We are discussing with serious companies in the GCC communications market,” he said. “We hope to finalise a deal before operations (of the grid) start.” – Zawya Dow Jones

RE:
I dont think the Electricity connection with be connected or shared use among GCC, just see full there is no idea or proposal of power connection among 7 emirates within UAE then you can understand what's going on. Emirates at UAE has to build up their own facilities like DEWA in Dubai then only they can plan for further development.
So for sure I believe what the auther said sicne there is no mean to complete the buildings and wait another 3 years for handover!!
Puzzled
Alwahsh's claims that construction on GCD 1 and 2 have been halted for the past 3 months contradicts, what I witnessed in July ( busy construction) and what others witnessed recently. The issue of electricity and water is however a serious one and amidst the crisis in economics in the world an even more serious problem as such an undertaking (building power and desalination plants) takes a lot of cash, which is often raised through credit.
I was in emirates city yesterday
I was in emirates city and I have seen with my eyes
and I have also talked with the manager of the construction
that after the pictures of josau there hasnt been build anything.
I have talked with the manager to ask why it is like this.
And he said that they have started early withouth licence.
If you have been there in july then it was the last days that
they have worked there and I am not lying.
If you dont believe it you can call the manager.
He also told me that there have been people from france
to see the goldcrest dreams 2 and he said they have
also made pictures.
There was noone working with goldcrest dreams 2 when
I visited the place and there are plastic bags over the
construction of goldcrest dreams 2.
I have seen people busy working in goldcrest dreams1.
I asked the manager why there wont be electricity after
5 years and he said 2 years after you have bought the
appartment after 2010 you will have rental guarantee
for 3 years so you should be glad.
I told him that the rental guarantee is so low and he told
me it is better than nothing.
If noone believes me you should look there for yourself.
I am just trying to make it more clear,I have nothing to do
with it.
And he also told me that they have build withouth licence
because noone wanted to buy in goldcrest dreams 2
1 year ago.
I hope that the people that you will have contact with
will tell you the truth because I have seen the truth.
It is still the same as the last pictures of josau.
Nothing has changed.
Josau, july is 3 months ago right?or cant you count?
Re to Alwahsh
Alwahsh, I was in EC on July 25th. By my count this is LESS than 3 months ago. Imre was there after me on sept. 5th. From his shots I could clearly see some progress on GCD2 and GCD1. This was during summer, then came Ramadan. A slow down in activity seems to be normal. Also, so far I have not been approached by Star Giga concerning a refund of my investment. As of the plastic bags over GCD2: I am glad they are doing this, this is a professional way of protecting the steel parts from the humidity and should be done by every serious construction company in this kind of climate.
Dear Alwahsh, Can you please
Dear Alwahsh,
Can you please stop joking and making confusion to other people, If you are not professional in engineering and construction field don’t tell your lies because No one can build a tower without municipality building permit approval, and the main contractor cannot sign a contract which is based on the wishes of the developer, and developer stop working or cancelling the project and returning the money as you said ( also you know you are talking about ETA STAR which is one of the biggest developer in UAE, as my experience as a Technical Manager & Chief Architect in Engineering consultant since 19 years working in UAE).
So if you want to invest your money in EC or other place in UAE please as the expert and don’t relay on your non professional investigation.
These are dirty tactics!
I just received an e-mail back from my guy at Star Giga and it is as follows...
"Dear Sir,
Thank you for your email.
Let me assure you that the construction of both Goldcrest Dreams & Goldcrest Dreams 2 are going on as per the planned schedule. Should an event occur where the constructions of our projects are halted for reasons beyond our control - we will keep our customers informed.
Please let me know if you have any further queries.
Aslam Ahmed
Senior Executive - Customer Service
Star Giga Establishment Limited"
Who do you work for Alwahsh, a competitor to Star Giga perhaps?!? It was my initial gut reaction and I believe it more than ever - you work for a competing company and are trying to slander Star Giga right before the big real estate show in Dubai. This is dirty man and I think that unless you can provide some sort of proof to back your claims your word on this site will be worth less than nothing from now on.
mazen
Listen very well to this story ,I have paid all the installments
at once because I know what is star giga but I have been send
by someone from sharjah to emirates city for a person who
works there for goldcrest dreams2 and when I went there
I saw noone was working there and it was during the
working time.
I never said I am a professional.I'm not a professional and
I dont look so much at the pictures if there is any progress.
I have gone there with the man who works there and I have
seen some iron sticks up and with cement on that and
there where plastic bags over that.
I have asked the person who works there about the progess
of the construction of goldcrest dreams 2 and he said
we stopped the construction.
So it means that that person is lying , not me.
If you are going to read up then you will read that a person
told me this ,not me.
Mazen,if you talk with someone you should talk with respect.
Dont talk dumb to other people.
Smitty,I dont work for any company.
If you want to talk shit about someone you should talk
to the manager who talked with me but maybe the
manager wants to have the appartment from me
That is also possible.
That is why he might make such bad commercial.
But I blame it on star giga who lets someone like him
work for them.
I was just like everyone,I was glad to see how our appartment
was beeing build.
But then I got such a person with neat clothes and he told
me that story and he also drove in front of our car to show us
where goldcrest dreams 2 is.
So I hope if someone talks here then they should read very well
before someone is calling me a liar or a competitor.
The biggest liars are the people who live in the uae.
95 % of them are liars.
Mazen, maybe you think I am just like you because you live
with them.
respect please
May ask Mr. Smitty what is his position in Star Giga??? a clerk or manager? i dont think a responsible person can talk like this. i am also investor of GCD but shocked to see such behavior from their employees.
hmmm... i must write to organisation head about this type of presentation of their employees.
Reg. Alwash, i really dont know him but there are possibilities that he experienced such type of curcumstances there.. if he is wrong their are better ways to indicate it..
thanks and sorry if somebody is hurt. i am allready shocked to see visa news here and thinking to pack my stuff from here.
Respect to the Community
Respect is a funny word isn't it; it means a lot of things to a lot of people. Alwahsh was disrespecting all the people who visit this site by posting news that is hearsay and wording it in such a way to make it seem that he knows what he is talking about (especially when he believes that 95% of people in the Emirates are liars and he himself lives there). The original post states that, "The boss of construction for EC", then he defends himself with, "Some guy who works there told me this..."
To start a panic with the other investors on this site by posting hearsay and making it appear to be truth is not good, nor is it respectful. There are a lot of very intelligent and informed people who come to this site and work hard at posting news, responding to comments and keeping the community informed. The key word here is community; we are all working together to keep the facts straight and share true and accurate information. A better approach from alwahsh would have been to start off his post by saying... "I have heard that............ I heard it from ........... Is this true? What info do others have? Can we get to the bottom of this?". This approach would have shown respect for this community and the intelligence of the people who populate it.
I hope alwahsh has learned a life lesson here. If he is hurt, well I call that tough love my friend!
hearsay your sounding
hearsay
your sounding lika lawyer smitty !!!
Whats wrong??
Whats wrong.....I can't figure out.
I agree with Smitty.....if he sounds like a lawyer to you....its your perception.
Whats the hearsay here?
do you actually know what
do you actually know what hearsay means 12 ajman?
Malice?!
"I have talked with the boss of the construction of emirates city and they stopped the construction of
goldcrest dreams and goldcrest dreams 2, 3 months ago because they dont have a license to build from their boss to go on with the construction.
They stopped the building of many towers and they returned the money for the buyers".... thus spoke Alwahsh.
This sure is utter malice by some moron who wants to attract attention. I am inclined to believe that in spreading such slanderous rumours, this person in question, has some ulterior motives. He tried to sound authorotative but failed, and ultimately back-tracked and diluted his stand. If someone continues to indulge in such irresponsible behaviour, he should be restrained by the EC Community. I fully agree with Smitty.
Construction GCD
I see there is a lot of confusion about the "stopped" constrution of Goldcrest dreams / Etastar.
I don't think we should be too worried when in comes to Etastar.
When it comes to delivering projects on time they hold a far better score than the competition.
You can see for yourself within Emirates city , can you name one project that sticks so closely to the
construction plan as GCD1 or GCD 2 ??? , i would not be able to name 1.
Now electricity or water supply that is another issue, but i also think that this is not something that is being developped by Etastar, so you can't fault them for this.
I am not working for Etastar but I just wanted to give my opinion because i got the feeling that one of the best developpers within emirates city wasn't fairly being treated on the forum.
sorry for mistake in posting
sorry
sorry for mistake in posting
this posting was continuation of visa changes not about halt in constructions, i am so sorry for this
12ajman
12ajman if you are going to read what I wrote then you will understand.
It is not you that decides if someone has to have respect for me or not.
And you are writing all those bad language here but I dont
do such things.
Smitty I will see you in emirates city if you are a real man to
talk with me like that.
I dont live in the uae ,I have learned from it.
I am now here for 6 months but I am never going to live here.
12ajman why do I have to go away from this forum?
Why are you all talking here about the construction?
It is not as important as the electricity.
They have enough time to build. If they have stopped or not
it is their business, its not time yet to complain.
But I asked in my subject:no electricity for emirates city?
And I have asked this if people know anything about the
electricity because everyone in the uae is talking about no electricity
in emirates city, the problem for me is not the construction.
They started early with the construction.
Also if they stop it is no problem because they have enough
time but the problem is the electricity.I have talked about that.
Tommorow if its right I will post pictures of goldcrest dreams 2.
Smitty get a psyciatrist , you really need mental help to say all
those things to me.
I'll find you.
Mr Alwahsh
Dear Mr Alwahsh,
You will do well if in future if you verify your facts before making statements which are actually not true. If someone tells lies to you, don't just post it without verification. Electricity is definitely a concern and there will be a way out. But actually other than electricity you did state things like:
they have stopped construction for last 2/3 months.....
they don't have license to build.......
they have returned money to buyers......
I am not aware of any such thing as having hapenned.
Stating something like "construction has stopped at GCD 1 and GCD 2 for the last three months" can only be construed as malicious.
I was myself there at EC in June/July and I saw construction workers engaged in their job in right earnest at both the sites of GCD 1 and GCD 2. Since then, there has been real and visible progress, which you could verify from the pictures that have been posted in September in the Galleries section. GCD 1 rose from level six (residential) to level ten (residential) from July to September. And I am sure it must be above twelve by now. GCD 2 has also risen from the ground with A03 being a little ahead of A02 and A01.
I sure look forward to seeing your latest pictures which you propose to post. While you are there, if possible, also take a couple of snaps of GCD 1 so that all of us could be updated with the actual position, since its been a long time since we got picture updates on this forum.
Wow
" Smitty get a psyciatrist , you really need mental help to say all
those things to me. I'll find you."
Threats of violence eh? Wow, just wow. You are the definition of irony man! You know I reread my posts thinking maybe I really did say something offensive and nope not a thing. Only once in any post did I say anything to "you" which was if you are going to make wild claims, at least provide some sort of evidence to back your claims? Is that really that offensive? To suggest that you are working for the competition is offensive? In light of your post I think not.
Never did I threaten, demean you as a person, or put you down. I simply stated that I think you have ulterior motives and what I thought they might be.
What is REALLY bugging you man? Dude, we (this community) are not your enemies and I am sure if we really do meet in EC we can be acquaintances if not friends, but I really think you need to take a BIG chill pill before then!
" A man is moving to a new village in northern Canada and stops at the local gas station. He tells the attendant that he is moving to this village and asks, "What are the people like here?" The attendant asks in response, "What were the people like where you came from?" To which the man replies, "Aw, they were a bunch of ass holes, always out to get me. That's why I had to leave!" The gas attendant replies, "Yep, I think you'll find the people here to be exactly the same. Sorry for your luck!"
listen
Listen here is the evidence for you and there is also the
date written on the pictures.
What if goldcrest dreams 2 will be completed and there is no
electricity?
I dont like it for myself because I cannot rent my appartment
to others then and I cant live in it with my family and I
cant fight against the company because they completed the
building on time to get rental guarantee.
Smitty look good at your words what your saying.
Last time you said to me
I hope alwahsh has learned a life lesson here. If he is hurt, well I call that tough love my friend!
I dont like the way you talk to me that way because it looks
like your going with the people here against me.
What do you mean with that little story about that
person who is going to move?
I dont need to take a chill pill because Im not going to live
with people like that.
You can see on the pictures that I am posting here who is the
liar or not.
Im not going to write with anyone here because it is getting
really annoying.
I have posted the pictures
I have posted the pictures of goldcrest dreams 2.
STOP
Guys,
This is a forum for Emirates City issues and not personal issues. Can we PLEASE STOP the arguing and get back to the point at hand which is the electricy issue and the Residents Visa.
Apologies if this post is harsh but we need to focus on the issues at hand
Possible Scenario
EC investment was never meant to be a quick app
reciating one, as the supply is too huge . Also, a lot of new Cities on Emirates Road have been announced after most of us decided to invest in EC, adding seriously to the supply.
Add to this the global Financial Tsunami , and a general cooling off in Dubai , it will make resale difficult. Another factor against a possibility of a good resale price immediately is the large down payment required, as compared to easy terms for a new investment ( although , it seems, at prices higher than what is available in re-sale).
However, from a 3 year perspective, EC investment does seems to have potential , and as the Buildings begin to rise, the difference between new launches and resale will shrink, and the ready resale apartments may be more in demand ( especially , if expatriates from Dubai seek cheaper accomodation), as they will be a more secure , ready investment.
It is expected that Gated Communities will be in good demand, and a nice place to live.
I hope the Visa issues will be sorted out by then.
I don't know whether the Developers launching at Dhs 600 or above are able to sell, especially as it seems that the cost of Construction raw materials has dropped?
What do the fellow members feel on the above assesement?
