Emirates City Forum

Hi Mark I am an investor in B16 (Crystal Residency) through Palm Estates - At the moment, it seems that Emirates City is progressing very slowly and reading through this forum, many unsubstantiated reasons are put forward for this.. It seems most people on this forum live outside of the UAE and this only serves negative speculation and posting of mere uninformed opinions as facts - It can be quite disheartening reading through some comments but I can understand most people are frustrated due to agents not giving any form of feedback or construction updates. I think that the authorities are finding out that building a whole new city takes planning and regulations and this is what they are trying to do at this stage. I am hoping that when Arra has completed registration of the various developers (something that should have been undertaken in the early stages before construction) that construction will pick up again and that the setting up of escrow accounts will protect investors' funds.

The new visa situation is worrying if true - The original 3-year residency visa offered by the developers was one major selling point and to now have it reduced to 6 months and only for properties over 1 million dirhams is hugely problematic if one wants to settle and live in Ajman in particular. However, from what I understand, this is not law and maybe all investors should petition the Government directly before it becomes so. It could be that starting a business in the UAE will work in your favour in terms of visa.
