ITV - Homes from Hell - Info Request

Hi:
I came across the following post on another forum. They are seeking Dubai Info mainly but maybe their interest extends across to Ajman. Esp. if UK buyers contact them. I cannot verify the info - just did a cut & paste. I have yet to write to them myself.

Good luck to all of us.

Dear all,

The next series of ITV's Homes From Hell is looking for stories from Dubai.

Did you have to wait years for your off-plan apartment to be finished? Were you stung by rising development costs and hidden fees and charges? Was your finished apartment far from the luxury build you paid for? Did your developer disappear when you discovered the property you bought was to be built on land the developer didn't even own?

If any of this sounds familiar and you have a story you would like the journalists at Homes From Hell to investigate then please get in touch at victoria.thake@itv.com or on 0207 157 4276.

Many thanks,
Victoria Thake
Assistant Producer, New Homes From Hell

Finally a light of hope at the end of the tunnel...

Hello,
It was good to know that someone in UK is interested to find out and publish about the terrible experiences we are facing. Unfortunately its only for Dubai but nevertheless i did try to call the number mentioned above and have left a voicemail for Victoria as i tried to contact her outside the office hours.
I can only hope that she calls me tomorrow and somehow i can convince her to hear our stories as well and if we get lucky then we will get this on the television and this way expose the fraud and scam that is affecting all our lives.
Keep your fingers crossed and thank you Investorcsi for taking the effort to publish her telephone number here.

Prashantk6:
Great, good to know - at least the post is genuine.

If enough people write, get in contact - I'm sure they'll take an interest.

If the producers are focused on UK buyers, I'm sure there are dozens in Ajman, if not hundreds. Some of these developer's (eg. Sweethomes) have UK offices. There have to be more.

Good luck to all of us.

Good News...

Hey Guys,
Finally some good news...I received an email from Victoria yeasterday and she informed me that she will be interested in talking to me sometime next week as Ajman has been bought to her notice before and she could consider taking our story for her ITV Homes from Hell episode which is still in its initial stages.
I hope that we get to cover this story and hopefully it will be broadcasted on the ITV channel so we uncover the issues and problems we all are facing since the last year now.
Atleast we will do down fighting rather than sitting here and whinging and moaning every single day.

Brilliant...

Prashant:
That's great to hear. Just like you said, if you don't help yourself - no one else is going to. The therapy that writing on a forum brings, only goes so far....

As a practical matter, the authorities seem to be attending only to groups/projects that make the most noise. Whether it is a group of buyers showing up at the developer's office, or outside of ARRA etc... newspaper articles or TV.... so you are going a tried and tested route.

Good luck, and take the time to get your story together...etc. Hopefully, other UK buyers in the same project, or other Ajman projects will echo the same thing and come forward. There are enough stories in The National Newspaper - that frame the general trust/transparency problem in Ajman / and UAE real estate in general.

I too exchanged some emails with Victoria - I don't have a UK connection (save for my developer having a UK Office), so understandably her interest is limited. In any event, I hired a lawyer - managed to terminate my purchase - albeit at a significant loss and so lost any remaining value as a story.

Best,

best of luck........

Hi..

Thank you guys for all comments...I am still waiting for Victoria to call me or email me so i can discuss this issue further with her.
keep your fingers crossed and i will get as many stories as possible to the media so they all know its a much bigger picture than it seems.
If i do not hear from here soon then i will get in touch with her soon.
