In Ajman a real estate developer and consulting company have each been fined 100,000 dirhams for selling fictitious residential units to investors, in Al Manara Tower, Emirates City.
The Ajman Department of Municipality and Planning says it never issued a licence for the tower, with more than 62 storeys.
It is understood unscrupulous real estate companies are forging documents and producing bogus building plans, which they use to trick unsuspecting investors.
The municipality has called on people who have been caught up in this scam, to come forward so authorities can assist them in getting their money back.
